It should be kept no secret that these guys are great friends of mine. Despite my bias, I can honestly say Mountain Asleep is making some incredible music that transcends beyond simply great recordings. Their sound is really hard to place one label on, and all of which have been placed I haven't been satisfied with, so I'm going to take my own stab.
From recording their first session in my living room, to the multitude of shows they play, I have watched this band become a hometown favorite in Louisville. They never cease to impress as they continue to pump out complex, multi-metered songs with a solid pop/punk/hardcore sound. Their heavy edgy sound still retains all the qualities of exciting danceable punk. Never have I encountered a band that has more heart; these guys mean every word they say, and every word they say means something. If you ever get the chance, this is one band you want to see live. With the amount of energy they play with, it's impossible you won't want to be in the middle of the crowd with the rest of their tried and true fans. Some of the best guys making some of the best music.
